- The Islamic rebel group Nusra Front has chosen a new name and is no longer the Syrian branch of al Qaeda.
Leader Abu Mohamad al-Golani said militia fighting in the first instance against the government of President Bashar al-Assad, now as Jabhat Fatah al Sham will go through life. According to him, the international community by this change no longer launch attacks under the pretext of links with al-Qaeda.
