seoul - A colonel from the North Korean army has taken refuge in the south. This was announced by the government in Seoul Monday. The man, who worked as an intelligence specialist for the National Intelligence Service, fled last year to South Korea and was granted political asylum there. The news was only now officially put out after media has already talked about earlier message.

The Ministry of Unification, which handles North Korean issues, also informed that an experienced diplomat who was stationed in an African country with his family to South Korea was deflected. Friday Seoul took care of a group of thirteen defectors. They worked in a restaurant abroad, which is not disclosed.
