- In the context of the state of emergency, the authorities in the northern French department of Nord banned the sale of alcohol between 20.00 and 08.00. The ban applies to stores that sell liquor, not for the hospitality industry. It remains in force until the end of the current state of emergency on 26 February.

The prefect of the department, Jean-François Cordet, hopes to reach the measure that evening and nighttime fewer problems caused by alcohol abuse. Thus the police as more time for more important matters, particularly the fight against terrorism.

The liquor sellers in the region understand, according to the newspaper La Voix du Nord are not what make their wares with the threat of jihadists has. They fear substantial revenue loss because the ban comes just before the holidays at the end of the year.
