No diplomatic immunity Assange

london/quito - Julian Assange, the controversial founder of WikiLeaks, does not get diplomatic immunity to leave the UK undisturbed. This was reported by the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Assange has been in the embassy of Ecuador in London since June 2012. That South American country wants to get rid of him, but also wants to keep protecting him from prosecution. Britain, however, states that the only solution for the 46-year-old Australian activist is that he is accountable to the courts.

Assange had a long time with the Swedish justice about allegations of sexual abuse. The Swedish judiciary has closed that case, but Assange has more problems. He could fall into the hands of the US judiciary for spreading confidential information from the US military in the Middle East. He also has 'hassle' with the British justice authorities about his conditional release years ago.
