Nine Israeli teenagers were killed by flooding

nahal tsafit - Nine Israeli youths were killed on Thursday by heavy floods in the south of the country.

The nine were part of a group of 25 young people between the ages of seventeen and eighteen. They were dragged through the water during an excursion into the Arava desert, the radio reported. The fifteen others from the group have been saved.

Since the morning there has been heavy rainfall in the south of Israel. A spokesperson for the Israeli police spoke on the radio about a 'tragedy that could have been prevented. 'Because of the weather conditions there were explicit warnings not to go on excursions in the area.

On Wednesday, two young people were killed by floods in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
