nijmegen - The refugee's night spent over 1.5 million euros this year. That made the Stichting Vluchteling in the night of Saturday on Sundays. Last year, participants in the 40 kilometer sponsorship walked up half a million euros less for emergency relief to refugees around the world.

A total of 5000 people participate in the walk that leaves Nijmegen, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Those 14-degree people have an 'ideal walking night' according to the organization. Last year there were 2800 people.

The launch for the three tours was given by midnight by Minister Lilianne Ploumen of Development Cooperation and Programmaker Johnny de Mol (Amsterdam), Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and Actor Hadewych Minis (Rotterdam) and Radio maker Jan Douwe Kroeske (Nijmegen).
