Nigeria: Boko Haram free hundreds of hostages

abuja - The Nigerian army claims to have freed 455 hostages from the hands of terrorist group Boko Haram. Forty extremist fighters were slain and twelve camps of the terrorist movement were razed to the ground, an army spokesman announced Saturday.

Where and when the hostages were not freed the spokesman said.

Sunni terrorist movement has its roots in northeastern Nigeria, but also commits regularly attacks in neighboring Niger, Cameroon and Chad. In 2014, the group even called a caliphate in the state of Borno. Assaults and attacks by Boko Haram have taken on certain 14. 000 people died since 2009.
