'Nicolas Sarkozy arrested'

paris - The former president of France Nicolas Sarkozy has been arrested. That's what sources have said in French justice. He is interrogated by the police in an investigation into the financing of an earlier election campaign.

Sarkozy has often been the target of judicial investigation. Last year, he had to account for a judge for the financing of his election campaign for the presidency in 2012. That funding would have been illegal.

The conservative Sarkozy was president from 2007 to 2012. He lost the 2012 elections of the socialist François Hollande.
