New York lawsuit against Weinstein Company

- The Attorney General of the State of New York has filed a lawsuit against The Weinstein Company and the brothers Harvey and Robert Weinstein. Eric Schneiderman accuses the top of the company of having failed to protect employees against Harvey Weinstein, formerly the director of the film studio.

Schneiderman wants the proceeds from the possible sale of the company to be used to compensate victims. Many women have accused former director Weinstein, who was fired last year, of sexual misconduct. The attorney general stated in a statement that the company had taken insufficient action after complaints about Weinstein had arrived.

Because of the allegations against the famous Hollywood producer, the hashtag #MeToo quickly gained recognition last year.
