New Year's wishes via 4G more than doubled

amsterdam - Customers of Vodafone and KPN brought massively-night New Year's Eve and New Year's wishes about their mobile internet. Vodafone was between 18.00 and 04.00 over 30 terabytes of data consumed, up 114 percent from a year earlier. KPN also reported a doubling in the period between 22:00 hours and 04:00 hours.

According to KPN is the sharp increase in mobile data traffic in line with the trend of recent years. There the data usage doubled by customers. The New Year is traditionally the busiest period of the year for the mobile network.

Where mobile Internet gaining ground, proved less popular call. According to Vodafone continued to be tight seven million phone calls. The number of calls thus was however 3.6 per cent lower compared with a year earlier. At KPN continued the series of interviews with approximately 5 million equal to a year earlier.

The traditional SMS traffic declined. People sent out via Vodafone 30 percent fewer messages. The fault at Whatsapp Thursday it caused a brief spike in the number of messages sent via SMS. Via KPN were sent out five million text messages. That's less than a million messages a year earlier.
