New members for China's powerful police committee

peking - Chinese Communist Party has appointed five new members for the seven-member permanent committee of the Politburo, the most important and powerful governing body. Striking is that there is no clear successor for Chinese leader Xi Jinping, something that is common.

Xi and Prime Minister Li Keqiang are the two members who remain. Five others were promoted to members of the committee and replaced members retiring. Two party members who are considered as potential successors of Xi are not included.

These are the party leaders of Guangdong and Chongqing provinces. They have become members of the wider police agency that has 25 members.
