New initiative for Syria peace plan
paris - A number of Western and Arab countries have launched a new initiative in Paris to bring peace to Syria.
The Foreign Ministers of Germany, France, Great Britain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United States want to find political solutions by, among other things, talking to the parties involved.
The German minister Maas said that his country is suitable to play a central role in the contact with Russia that is participating in the war in Syria on a large scale. Germany has called for more diplomatic initiatives, especially after France, Great Britain and the USA carried out rocket attacks on Syria on their own. They did that earlier this month because they accuse Syria of having used chemical weapons in the battle.
The seven-year civil war in Syria destroyed the country and an estimated half a million deaths have occurred.
