amsterdam - Asteroid 2017 VL2- the size of a whale- has missed the earth 'except for one' last month. She flew 'only' at just 115,000 kilometers from the earth. That is not even a third of the distance between the moon and earth. Worst of all is that space agency NASA did not know what was going on.
The astronomers only got something through when 2017 VL2 passed the Mauna Loa observatory in Hawaii. This is what Daily Mail reports. With a diameter of thirty meters, the asteroid could have destroyed a big city on earth.
2017 Vl2 is now only around 2125 this way again.
