More twitterers saw Russian messages

san francisco - In the run-up to the US presidential elections, more American Twitter users than thought they saw messages from Russian fake accounts. It now involves 1.4 million people. They retweeted or liked messages from Russian accounts, or responded to them, or followed the accounts. Previously, it involved more than 677,000 people.
The messages were posted by 3814 accounts linked by Twitter to the Internet Research Agency. That is a government agency in the city of St. Petersburg. It tries to influence discussions on the internet in favor of Russia, with fake accounts and fake messages.
