Modi in London welcomed with fierce protests

london - Hundreds of protesters in London have welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a loud protest. They held up signs with texts like 'Modi go home' and 'against Modi's agenda of hatred and greed.'

The reason for the protest are two recent cases of sexual violence against children in India, and especially the abduction of an 8-year-old Muslim girl. The girl was detained for days in a Hindu temple and brutally abused and ultimately killed.

This case, and the case of a fellow party member of Modi who raped a teenage girl, caused a storm of protest in India. Modi has promised to try the guilty, regardless of the religion of the suspects.

Modi met with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles alongside Prime Minister Theresa May during his visit to the United Kingdom.
