Minister Pompeo immediately after being appointed to NATO

washington/brussels - The newly appointed US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, is immediately ready to work with a trip to NATO headquarters in Brussels. Pompeo was welcomed in the Belgian capital by NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg on Friday and later spoke to his NATO colleagues.

Pompeo also wants to speak separately with British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson and German colleague Heiko Maas. Pompeo is considered a right-wing conservative who until recently was in charge of the intelligence service CIA. He is the successor of President Rex Tillerson, dismissed by President Trump.

Among other things, NATO ministers talk about the difficult relationship with Russia, the situation in Afghanistan, military training projects in Iraq and how the possible future NATO countries, Georgia, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina stand for.
