- An attack with rockets or mortar shells on Tuesday caused a massacre in the Syrian port city of Latakia. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which the war from Britain follows through observers on the ground, at least 23 were killed and forty wounded. Militants would have bombarded the city from a distance.

Latakia is a major stronghold of the regime of President Bashar al- Assad. The area is home to many Alawite, a religious minority that President Bashar al- Assad also belongs.
The group behind the attack is still unknown. According to Syrian state media, a residential neighborhood around the university town was hit.
