Migrants drowned near Sardinia

rome - Because of an accident with a refugee boat off the coast of Sardinia, at least two people drowned and eight others are missing. This was reported by the Italian Coast Guard on Saturday.

The victims jumped overboard when the engine of the vessel failed. They tried to swim to a rock island off the coast of Sardinia, but they did not. Three people who stayed behind in the boat were saved.

More and more migrants are trying to reach Sardinia in small boats, now that the route to Sicily has been blocked.
