MH17: EU and Ukraine appeal to Russia

brussels - The leaders of the EU and the President of Ukraine call on Russia to 'accept its responsibility' for the downing of the MH17. President Petro Poroshenko, EU President Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker ask Moscow to 'fully cooperate in all efforts to establish liability'.

In a joint statement following an EU-Ukraine summit in Brussels, the three state that they commemorated the victims of the fatal flight on 17 July 2014. 'We look forward to the effective prosecution of those responsible for this tragedy. 'The statement comes ten days after the summit of EU leaders, where they gave Prime Minister Mark Rutte support with the same appeal to Russia.

The Boeing with flight number MH17 was brought down from Schiphol to Malaysia by an anti-aircraft missile in eastern Ukraine. All 298 occupants died. Recently it became clear that the rocket was fired from an installation of the Russian army.
