MH17 crew survivors to court

World June 3, 2016 05:42

- Survivors of six of the fifteen members of the crew of the downed flight MH17 on Thursday filed a lawsuit against Malaysia Airlines. They accuse the airline negligence and breach of contract, as reported Malaysian media.

According to the relatives, the society took unreasonable risk to fly the plane over a conflict zone. In addition, the methods would fail in order to estimate risks. There is also talk of contract because the safety and welfare of the crew was not sufficiently safeguarded, says the lawyer of the relatives, Thomas Philip.

The aircraft was on July 17, 2014 during flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur downed by a missile of Russian origin over eastern Ukraine, at a time of heavy fighting between government forces and separatists. All 298 passengers including 193 Dutch were killed.
