Merkel to support flexible visa policy, Turkey

- German Chancellor Angela Merkel is committed to a more flexible visa policy for Turkish nationals who wish to travel to EU countries . In return, they expect Istanbul refugee policy tightens .

Merkel said after talks with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

Turkey is the main transit country for refugees and itself most displaced within the borders. To stem the EU hopes to conclude an agreement in the flow to EU countries with Turkey over a stricter policy . Merkel is in Turkey to reinforce that wish.

Turkey wants in return a more flexible visa policy and the EU funding. Furthermore, the country wants to accelerate talks on accession to the EU. Merkel promised to make a case for those requirements.
