MEPs are voting away from immigrant law

washington - A majority in the US House of Representatives voted against a Republican bill on Wednesday as expected to protect, among others, illegals who entered the US years ago with their parents, the so-called dreamers. Part of the law, which was seen as a compromise, was also the release of 15 billion dollars for the construction of the wall along the border with Mexico.

The rejection paved the way for a debate on a new, more targeted migration law. This must provide a solution to the controversial separation of children from their parents if they cross the border illegally.

The rejected migration law was a weakening of an earlier version that voted against a majority last week.
