Members UKIP vote for discharge leader Bolton

World February 17, 2018 17:45

london - Members of the British Eurosceptic populist party UKIP voted in favor of the resignation of their leader Henry Bolton at an extraordinary general meeting. That is what party chairman Paul Oakden said. According to Oakden, 63 percent of 1,378 voters have canceled their confidence in Bolton.

Bolton (54), who has been party leader for less than five months, is under attack because his then-girlfriend has spread racist texts about Prince Harry's fiancée, Meghan Markle.

The party wants to hold an election for a new leader within three months.

UKIP exists since 1993. Under Nigel Farage, the party became an important motive for the 2016 referendum on EU membership.
