cuernavaca - After only 24 hours in office as mayor of the town of Temixco, 100 kilometers south of Mexico City yesterday Gisela Mota killed. Four bandits penetrated into the early morning hours to her and ended the life of 33-year-old woman who had promised 'organized crime head-on tackle.


         Bodyguards were able to kill two attackers. Two others have been arrested. The murder is a shock to Mexico. The city of Cuernavaca, where Temixco abuts, is one of the most dangerous in the country. Together with Mota was a few days ago just too old football player Cuauhtémoc Blanco sworn in as mayor of Cuernavaca.
Mota, before the federal parliament, is another Mexican mayor who is killed by violence. Eighteen politicians were assassinated around the elections last June. At least fifty other attacks failed. Many took place in the southern provinces of Guerrero and Morelos.
Graco Ramirez governor of Morelos yesterday condemned the murder of his beloved colleague. Ramirez pointed directly to organized crime. Drugs gangs stop at nothing to win influence to protect their transports and markets. New mayors are allowed to choose between
plata o plomo: money for cooperation, or the bullet.
Cuernavaca Morelos and groan among the highest rate of murders, kidnappings and extortion in Mexico. Temixco is not far from Iguala, where last year, gang members and a corrupt mayor couple 43 students left disappear. Football Hero and newly minted politician Blanco has promised his voters 'there will do everything' to create a liveable city of Cuernavaca.
