- Toy manufacturer Mattel brings its own 3D printer in the fall of 2016 off. The printer, which costs only $ 300, can be controlled with an app. This was reported USA Today.

The Thing Maker 3D Printer is like most other devices in this segment using PLA filament, a kind of plastic. This is heated, after which it is sprayed by means of a print head on the plate in a particular shape. Mattel itself will provide different colors filament. Printing a ring would last about 20 minutes, and takes an action figure between six and eight hours.

The corresponding app was created by Autodesk, a company that specializes in making 3D modeling software. This app for iOS and Android, Thing Maker Design App is available now and works according to Mattel in combination with 3D printers from third parties.

It is not yet known if or when the printer is also true in Europe.
