Martin Schulz steps up as leader SPD

berlin - SPD leader Martin Schulz stops with immediate effect as party chairman. He said that in Berlin on Tuesday evening.
Schulz actually wanted to make room for his successor Andrea Nahles when the members had spoken about the participation of the German Social Democrats in the new coalition government of Chancellor Angela Merkel. The result of that vote will be announced on 4 March.
