Malaysians furious: man (41) marries 11-year-old girl

- In Malaysia there has been a commotion about a marriage between a 41-year-old man with a girl of 11 years old. The girl is a friend of the children of his second wife. Che Abdul Karim, who calls himself the imam of the village of Kampung Lalang, is already married to two women. In the two women he has children between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. Now he has taken the 11-year-old girl away from her family to make her his third wife, writes Nieuwsblad.

The news about the illegal marriage came to the fore when his second wife (34) posted a picture of the newly married couple on social media. 'Congratulations on your marriage, my husband (41) and his third wife (11),' she added. The message went viral in no time and gave mountains angry reactions.

The woman then removed her message, but she said she had informed the Malaysian authorities.

According to local media, the parents of the very young bride would have agreed to the marriage. They had set a condition. The marriage had to be 'nikah gantung'. That means that the man had to wait until the girl was sixteen to really go through life as husband and wife. The parents were present at their daughter's wedding to give their blessing.

'Ayu (as the young bride is called) has also agreed', the man told the Malaysian press agency Bernama. The man got received countless negative reactions from compatriots accusing him of accusing him of pedophilia or kidnapping. Malaysians massively call on the authorities to save the girl from the 'abuse'.

His second wife, on closer inspection, does not agree with the recent marriage of her husband. 'He had both promised us that he would never marry a child. I'm really angry about this: he's just married to my friends' girlfriend. 'It looks like the man is left with only one woman instead of three. His second wife is planning to request a divorce.

The man himself is aware of no harm. 'I am really disappointed with the criticism and accusations. I will take action to clear my name ', says man in front of news site Free Malaysia.
