Lugubere turn 'Day of the Wolf': 40 sheep killed by wolf

bath wildbad - Calculated on the 'Day of the Wolf', such a predator probably caused a slaughter under sheep in the German town of Bad Wildbad (Black Forest). More than forty ruminants survived. Several were torn apart, others were so seriously injured that they had to be killed. In addition, a still unknown number of sheep drowned because they panicked a stream running alongside.

'It was a horrible sight', commented Anette Wohlfarth, director of the sheep breeders' association in Baden-Württemberg, after visiting the fenced meadow where the wolf used to live. Research must show whether a wolf is indeed the perpetrator. In that case, the owner of the herd, who had left the barn only a few days ago, could receive compensation.

That the wolf, a protected species in Germany, has also established itself in this federal state, had already been proven. Since 2015 four copies have been found. Two were run over, one possibly died a natural death and one was bullied out of a lake with bullets in the body.
