Lufthansa deletes flights because of strike

World April 9, 2018 14:03

berlin - Staff at four German airports put the work down on Tuesday. The airline Lufthansa therefore cancels around eight hundred flights. This has consequences for about 90,000 travelers.

The strike affects airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne and Bremen. Employees of the ground staff lay down the work there. Frankfurt Airport warned travelers that large disruptions must be taken into account. Customers are advised to contact their airline.

Lufthansa cancels 58 long-haul flights because of the strike. Affected customers can change their flights free of charge. Personnel manager Bettina Volkens calls it 'totally unacceptable that the trade union is fighting this conflict over the backs of travelers who have nothing to do with it'.

Work interruptions are also expected in other sectors in the coming days. With such actions, the unions want to increase the pressure on employers to come up with a good wage offer.
