Louvre open again

World February 4, 2017 11:12

paris - The Louvre was reopened Saturday after a man Friday with a machete soldiers who helped guard the museum was attacked. A soldier shot the attacker down and the most visited museum in the world then closed its doors.

The perpetrator called the attack ' Allahu Akbar '(God is great). President Francois Hollande spoke of a terrorist attack. Hollande praised the soldiers who gunned down the man and thus were a terrorist act. ' That action foiled simply an attack whose terrorist nature can scarcely be doubted, '' Hollande said at the European summit in Malta about the events at the Louvre.

The culprit is a 29-year-old Egyptian who in late January France came from Dubai. He is critically injured in hospital. It is still not clear whether he has had any kind of help.

The Louvre has all the terror a bad year behind. The museum attracted two million visitors in 2016 fewer than in 2015 and posted a loss of nearly 10 million. Also in 2001, the art palace saw its stream of visitors after the attacks in the United States.
