Libyan Prime Minister sees potential role Moscow

tripoli - Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Seraj hopes that Russia can play a mediating role in his country. Seraj said in an interview that Moscow may serve as an intermediary between him and General Khalifa Haftar which has strong support in eastern Libya.

The North African country since the death of dictator Muammar Gaddafi plagued by instability. The unity government Seraj will bring all security forces in Libya under a single flag, but not making much progress.

Haftar Seraj and serve as the key figures in the divided country. The prime minister responded in the affirmative to the question whether Moscow could be a useful mediator between him and his rival.

Seraj spoke earlier with Russian diplomats, including Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The Prime Minister then stated in its claim to want to form unified armed forces to combat terrorism.

In Libya operates under more terror group Islamic State. The jihadis were recently expelled from the coastal city of Sirte, but would still have hundreds of fighters..
