new york - The US attorneys of Mexican drug lord Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman complained Friday about the very strict prison regime under which their client suffers. They did Friday in federal court in Brooklyn during a hearing.

The 59-year-old Guzman is 23 hours of the day in seclusion on a special section of the penal institution in Manhattan. He can not even see his wife, Emma Coronel and Mexican counsel. 'We understand the need for security but this goes beyond all bounds,' said El Chapo's lawyer, Michelle Gelernt.

Judge Brian Cogan said to leave it to the Department of Prisons under what conditions Guzman trapped and whom he can see and speak. He added that 'the history of the suspect a tad unusual' is.

El Chapo is on trial for allegedly leading a criminal organization and large-scale drug trafficking. If it is proved he can may get life. Guzman, who two weeks ago was extradited to the US from Mexico, has stated that he is innocent of all that is alleged against him.
