cape canaveral - The last man standing on the moon, is deceased. The American Eugene Cernan is deceased at the age of 82, reports NASA.

Cernan was commander of Apollo 17, who traveled to the moon in December 1972. When he from the module Challenger got, he was the eleventh person to set foot on the moon. After he got fellow astronaut Jack Schmitt still out. Cernan returned after the moonwalk finally back in the capsule. That makes him the- so far- last man on the moon.

According to NASA brought Cernan 566 hours and 15 minutes in the space. He stood on the moon in a total of 73 hours.
