KPN Ventures invests in alarm for the elderly

amsterdam (afn) - KPN Ventures invested an undisclosed amount in Rotterdam developer of an intelligent alarm system for preventive elderly Sensara. It reported the investment arm of telecom KPN Tuesday.

The Sensara system operates with movement sensors and self-learning software, which recognize the daily pattern of activity in a home or care facility, and can indicate if significant changes therein occur. The system can therefore alert caregivers and family in unusual situations and sound the alarm if something is wrong.

The investment fits Ventures according to KPN's strategy to invest in digital initiatives in the field of healthcare and smart systems for the home.

Sensara reported to have picked up Tuesday a total of 3.8 million euros in investments. That money is in addition to KPN ventures Van Herk Ventures.
