osaka - The Japanese police arrested a fourteen-year-old boy for writing ransomware. '' I wanted to try what I could and it was possible '' he said, according to the newspaper Asahi Shimbun at his trial. He also wanted to become famous.

The scholar would have learned on the internet how to make hostage software. He uploaded the code and linked it to Twitter. More than a hundred people opened the link and saw their computer infected and locked. It is not known how many of them have paid ransom.

It's almost never happened that someone is being picked up for ransomware.
