Ader got into the second round of voting, a large majority of 131 votes out of the total 170 votes behind. The leftist opposition candidate Laszlo Majtenyi received 39 votes. Ader's second term begins on May 10, said Kover.

Observers see the re-election of Ader a sign of Orban's firm grip on power just over a year before the parliamentary elections. The 57-year-old Ader, a lawyer and member of Orban's Fidesz party, Orban gave firm support for his political program since he was elected to the largely ceremonial role in 2012.
