Italy seizes the migrant ship Aquarius

rome - Italy has ordered the seizure of the migrant ship Aquarius. The Italian authorities decided to do so because mistakes would have been made when removing waste from the Aquarius. MSF confirmed this after reports in Italian media.

AzG employee Karline Kleijer, who directs the mission of the Aquarius for rescuing immigrants, says that Italy accuses the migrant ship of delivering human waste in Italian ports. According to Italy, it concerned waste that was potentially contaminated and should therefore have been issued as hospital waste. Italian justice also finds that the separation of waste on the Aquarius has not happened properly.
