Italian police are chasing mafia boss

castelvetrano - Two hundred Italian policemen hunt in Sicily for the missing Mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro, or 'Diabolik'. The 55-year-old man has been able to escape arrest for 24 years. He is suspected, among other things, of a series of murders.

The police are looking in and around his hometown of Castelvetrano in every corner and every hole of farms and warehouses of thirty henchmen of Diabolik, reports the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

Two years ago, it was discovered that Denaro does not use modern equipment to communicate with other mafiosi. He still uses the classic method of 'pizzini', where papers with messages are left under a stone.

The relentlessly known Denaro has presumably succeeded godfather Toto Riina, who died in custody last month. Riina was known as the Beast, for his unscrupulous cruelty.

It is the second time in two weeks that the police are looking for such a large-scale. Last week Maria Angela Di Trapini was found, who took the place of her imprisoned husband as a mafia boss.
