Italian arrested for HIV infections

World June 13, 2018 14:39

rome - The Italian police have arrested a truck driver who would have infected many women with HIV. The 36-year-old man from Ancona denied, according to sources from the Italian news agency ANSA, that he was suffering from the virus, although he had been walking around for at least nine years.

According to ANSA, it is feared that more than two hundred women have been infected by the driver, but it is unclear what this estimate is based on. The trucker traveled throughout Italy because of his work. The police try to come into contact with possible victims, who, for example, got to know the suspect via social networking sites and chat sites. They then ran the virus through unprotected sex.

An Italian court last year sentenced a man to 24 years in prison because of a similar case. According to the authorities, an accountant with HIV deliberately had unprotected sex with women. In this way he infected dozens of people with the virus. The man seduced many victims through social media.
