Israel thwarts attack: explosives found in trucks

jerusalem - Israel says it has foiled a Palestinian attack, aimed at the celebration of Independence Day that starts Thursday after sunset. At a checkpoint in the West Bank, border guards discovered explosives, hidden in the roof of a truck.

The border guards encountered the explosives during a routine check at the border crossing Reihan, according to Israeli media. Israel commemorates and celebrates the founding of the state in 1948 this week.

The truck was loaded with agricultural goods and meant for remote communities in central Israel. The army stormed the driver's house and two other Palestinians.
