Israel is temporarily stopping deportation Africans

World April 24, 2018 16:45

tel aviv - The Israeli government has informed the Supreme Court that no deportations are being carried out to African countries. The plan to do that is completely off the track and all announced expulsions expire, Israeli media reported.

The court has examined the deportation problem after complaints from human rights activists. In consultation with Rwanda and Uganda, the government wanted to fly many thousands of Africans to those Central African countries and leave them there with some pocket money. Certainly one of these two countries has previously included asylum seekers from Israel. Most asylum seekers in Israel come from Eritrea, Sudan and South Sudan.

Earlier this year, the government came up with an alternative plan to transfer 16,500 African asylum seekers to Western countries and to keep the same number in Israel for the time being. That plan failed. The expulsion to Rwanda and Uganda would be picked up again. But those two countries claim that they know nothing about it.
