Israel confirms annexation of West Bank

jerusalem - Israel on Thursday formally announced that it intends to re-annexing a piece of land on the West Bank. The Ministry of Defence has confirmed a message about the army radio.

It is a piece of land of 154 hectares near the town of Jericho. It is located in an area where Israel has already built several settlements. It is land of Palestine which believes it belongs to his state. After the news of the annexation Wednesday leaked, which was immediately condemned by Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations.

About 550 000 Jews now live and work in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. In the east of the city life as well as 400 000 Palestinians. On the West Bank live another 2.7 million Palestinians.
