Iran: missile test does not conflict with resolution

World January 31, 2017 12:09

tehran - Iran confirms nor denies the message from America that Sunday has tested a ballistic missile. Anyway the Iranian missiles do not fall under the nuclear agreement that Iran signed with six world powers, or by resolution of the United Nations Security Council, said Foreign Minister Javad Zarif Tuesday in Tehran.

Zarif spoke at a news conference with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault, who is visiting Tehran. Ayrault said he had conveyed French concerns about the missile test. Which would violate UN Resolution 2231 and undermine international confidence in Iranian intentions. The resolution urges Iran not to build ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

' Iran has not produced missiles to carry nuclear warheads, '' said Zarif. He warned that the United States should not engage the missile tests ' for new games and tensions ''. To defend its borders Iran does not need permission from other countries, he said.
