teheran - Iran is blocking a number of social media and apps to stop the many demonstrations in the country. The state television reported Sunday that Instagram and the telegram shopping app are blocked to keep order and ensure the safety of the population.
The media are used by demonstrators who want to communicate. Since Thursday people have been on the streets in several places in the country, especially to protest against the government. It is dominated by conservative Shiite clergy.
This is caused by price increases, corruption suspicions and the lack of economic progress that the current president Hassan Rohani has promised.
