new delhi - The Indian police are investigating an incident in which a resident of Kashmir would be tied to an army jeep. Soldiers used the man reportedly as a human shield, the Hindustan Times reported Monday.

The 26-year-old man says Indian soldiers pulled him earlier this month on his motorcycle. Then he was tied to the front of the jeep and drove for hours through villages. Video footage of the incident in India have led to a storm of criticism.

Sources within the military have decided to tie the man defended the vehicle. They said earlier told The Times of India that the action saved lives. The military would have been way to relieve officers who were besieged by hundreds of angry demonstrators.
