harrisburg - The US authorities are investigating child abuse within the Roman Catholic Church in Pennsylvania. Seven of the eight dioceses in the state say they are summoned to hand over documents, reports American media.
Earlier this year, a devastating report on large-scale abuse within the church in Pennsylvania appeared. At least a thousand people, mostly children, have been victims of the misconduct of some 300 priests and other clergy over the course of decades. Many of those facts are already barred.
According to the interests of victims, it appears to be the first major federal investigation into the abuse within the church. The scandal also led to the departure of the Archbishop of Washington D. C. Donald Wuerl stepped up because of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy in his former diocese in Pennsylvania.
