harare - The intended new president of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa has returned Wednesday in his country. That is what his political party ZANU-PF has announced.

Former Vice President Mnangagwa fled to South Africa early this month after being fired by Robert Mugabe, then head of state in Zimbabwe. The resignation eventually signaled the fall of Mugabe which resigned on Tuesday.

Mnangagwa has been put forward by the ruling ZANU-PF to succeed Mugabe as president and he is expected to be sworn in on Friday.
