A total of 500 residents of The Hague long will test run a half years with the system. In Eindhoven and Groningen are like pilots, but with licenses. The main advantage seems to be that a DigiD issued without real contact and only a login name and password- sometimes supplemented with an SMS code- are required to log an identity card or driving license must be collected himself, log can then customize and a PIN. The eNIK compared with DigiD extra protection against cybercrime and identity theft.

At the same time also piloted with private sign means for digital public services, for example with an app. After evaluating the various pilot projects, the government takes a final decision on the use of this sign means.
