ICC throws himself on Georgia

- The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague will be doing on their own initiative investigation into atrocities allegedly committed in the brief war between Russia and Georgia in 2008.

The ICC wants to see if there are crimes against humanity and war crimes committed between July 1 and October 10, 2008 in the Georgian region of South Ossetia. This, the court said Wednesday.

The disputed region was actually under the control of Russia. After Georgia had attacked South Ossetia in the summer of 2008, ignited a five-day war with Russia which went out very bad for Georgia.

Russia after the war in South Ossetia and the western Georgian region of Abkhazia as independent recognized. Many ethnic Georgians have been expelled and the prosecutors of the ICC believe that this was done systematically, using the destruction of homes and expelling the residents.
