honolulu - Hurricane Lane that passes through Hawaii has been further reduced to the 3rd category. Lane is located south of Hawaii and is expected to head north-west. The hurricane brings wind speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, reports the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.

A spokesperson for the civil protection service of the American state of Hawaii says that more than 30 centimeters of rain has fallen on the east side of the island of the same name. For the time being there are no reports of victims. However, roads have been closed because of the heavy rainfall and mudslides that have arisen.

According to the latest predictions, the eye of the hurricane will move around the islands. The authorities nonetheless warn that the damage can be great. Lane reached category 5 on Wednesday, the highest classification for a hurricane.
